The first stop on our journey in the Western United States was Badlands National Park. We left our hotel in Oacoma, South Dakota at around 4am CST on Wednesday, June 23rd to drive two and a half hours to catch a sunrise over the beautiful badlands.

The very early morning start was definitely worth it to see the beautiful sunrise over the badlands at Big Badlands Overlook. After viewing the sunrise from the overlook, we headed to the window and notch hiking trails, which provided some exceptional views. After hiking the couple trails, we drove throughout the park and saw wildlife including prairie dogs, deer, a rabbit, buffalos, and long horn sheep. Below are a few of the images from Badlands National Park.
